AWARD OF GRADES

The final grade shall depend on the marks obtained in each of the tests listed above. The weightage given to each evaluation component is as follows.

In case of courses not having any laboratory work, the weightage of End-Semester Examination shall be 60%. While in case of courses having only laboratory / practical work, the weightage of laboratory reports shall be 100%.

There shall be 10-letter grades i.e. A, B, C, & D for individual courses. The letter grade and corresponding grade points are as under:

End-Semester Examination not attended 'I' (Incomplete)

Registration for Courses for the End-Semester Examination

At the start of the Semester or at least five weeks prior to the End-Semester Examination, Controller of Examination will announce and register each student on a prescribed form for the courses he/she wants to take. Entry to the Examination Hall shall require appropriate admit slip issued by Controller of Examination.

Examination Schedules

The Controller of Examination shall publish the Mid-Semester and End-Semester Examination schedule, which shall be displayed on the institution notice board before the end of the 7th and 16th week of the semester.

Failure (F) Grade

If a student obtains 'F' grade in any course or courses of a semester, he/she shall have only one chance to reappear in the End-Semester Examination of the course/courses whenever the examination schedule makes it possible for the student to take that examination. In such cases the sessional marks obtained by the student earlier shall be retained.

If a student once again obtains 'F' grade in the re-appear examination of a course, then he/she must take the course again, whenever offered and whenever the schedule of teaching makes it possible for the student to take that course.

Incomplete (I) Grade

A student may be awarded 'I' grade in a course, if he/she is not allowed/cannot appear in the End Semester Examination due to permissible reasons like attendance shortage etc.

A student awarded 'I' grade due to reasons other than attendance requirement in a course may appear in the End Semester Examination of that course whenever held, and when the examination schedule makes it possible for the student, to take that examination, after completing the requirement which makes him/her eligible to appear in the examination of the said course.

Improving Course Grades

If a student wants to repeat the End Semester Examination of any course to improve the grade obtained in that course, he/she may do so by registering for that examination, whenever the examination schedule makes it possible for him/her to re-sit in that examination. In this case the sessional marks obtained by the student earlier shall be retained.

As soon as a student repeats an End Semester Examination, his/her previous grade of the course shall be cancelled, and only the latest grade earned by the student shall be considered for the computation of SGPA and CGPA.

Sessional marks shall not be revised when a student opts to repeat an End Semester Examination. If a student wants to improve sessional marks, he/she must get himself/ herself registered in that course as a regular student, whenever the schedule of teaching makes it possible for him/her to take that course. He/she shall have to pay prescribed registration fee per course.

It shall be noted that a student can only improve a grade lower than 'C'.

Subjects to be Repeated

A student who is relegated is required to retake all the courses of semester in which he obtained 'F' grades, and if desired, repeat such other courses to improve semester GPA and cumulative GPA.

Fee on account of Probation/Relegation

A student moved over on probation shall pay all fees of the semester.

A student, moved over on probation, desirous of attending any course of the previous semester, shall only pay the fee of the course the is attending as prescribed earlier in fee schedule.

A student re-appearing only in the end semester examination of the previous semester shall pay the examination fee of the course he/she is appearing in the examination as prescribed earlier in fee schedule.

Withdrawal from a Reappear Examination

A student may withdraw in writing his/her option to reappear in an End Semester Examination three weeks before the start of examination. In that case his/her previous grade of course shall be retained and his/her examination fee shall be confiscated. If a student after getting himself/herself registered for a re-sit End Semester Examination remains absent, his/her previous grade shall be retained but examination fee shall not be refunded.

Display and Record of Results

The teacher shall inform the students of the sessional marks before the end of the 16th week of the semester. The students should verify these marks and inform the teacher of any discrepancies by the 17th week. The results shall not be changed after submission to the Controller of Examination. The concerned teachers shall not declare the results of the End Semester Examination. The Controller of Examination, KICSIT, shall submit the complete result to the Controller of Examination U.E.T. Taxila, who will finally check and notify the results.

Semester Grade Sheet

A grade sheet shall be issued to each student after the declaration of semester results. This sheet shall indicate the grades and GPA earned by the student in a semester. Fee as prescribed in fee schedule given earlier will be charged for semester grade sheet.

Transcripts

A transcript of grades shall be issued to each student after completion of academic programme. A fee as prescribed in fee schedule given earlier will be charged for this service.

Issuance of Certificates/ Degree

Subject to fulfillment of the prescribed requirements and submission of the prescribed application form with fee for issuance of a degree, certificate or duplicate copy thereof:

Degree will normally be issued within two months of the receipt of the application, and

Any other certificate or duplicate copy thereof will ordinarily be issued within six days on the receipt of the application form.

It is to be noted that a candidate shall deposit double the prescribed fee if he requires a certificate or duplicate copy within 48 hours.
